The Top 5 HR Articles of October 2016

It has been a very interesting journey for me to write two blog posts a week for the last month.

In order to craft a good blog post, it is also essential to keep reading and know what some trending topics in the media are. I ended up reading many articles and learning a lot from them as well. This is why I have decided to post up an article monthly – listing the top 5 articles from the previous month. In this post, I will be going through the top 5 favourite articles I have chosen for October 2016.

2) Are Your Hiring Efforts Attracting the Wrong Applicants by Angie Rupp

I am sure all companies face this problem at some point in time. The way a company has designed their hiring process will determine whether they attract the right or the wrong applicants. In the article, there are three different reasons that companies attract the wrong applicants as well as solutions on how the companies can tackle these problems effectively.

There is a really thought-provoking point which is how choosing the wrong ATS provider (or none at all) increases your risk for hiring the wrong applicants. The applicant tracking system should be user-friendly and encourage job applicants to apply. This will help to promote a better candidate experience for the job applicants as well.

4) Taking the Soft Approach to Corporate Wellness by Kerry Anne Carter

This article has got to be my favourite of the month! The importance of corporate wellness is said to be advocated by many people but how many companies actually take action on this? I believe that ensuring corporate wellness works for the company’s best interest. At the end of the day, when employees are productive and efficient, it will benefit the company. This article shows you what you can do other than simply putting a wellness program – you can take a softer approach to wellness. Read the article to find out how you can do it!

5) How the Best Global Employers Convince Workers to Join and Stay by Richard Mosley

Companies often build strong brand names to win over customers, but they often fall short when it comes to strengthening their employer reputation for winning talent. This article talks about how employer branding is not only useful for recruitment marketing, but it also promotes effective organisational leadership. A survey was conducted, and there were four areas that stood out as important for companies to focus on: targeting the right talent, standing out from the crowd, delivering your promises, and confronting the facts.
